Local Credit Union Celebrates Global Connection

SALMON ARM (October 8, 2024) — On October 17, 2024, credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 76th anniversary of this annual event, which will be celebrated under the theme of “One World Through Cooperative Finance”. In honour of this special day, SASCU Credit Union invites its members and community members to pop by a branch to visit with elected Directors of the Board, spin a wheel for prizes, and enjoy some treats.

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 403 million members in 98 countries worldwide. More than 82,000 credit unions exist globally.

“As part of this global network of cooperatives, we take seriously our role in bringing trustworthy and affordable financial services to underserved areas, both locally and afar,” said Barry Delaney, SASCU President & CEO.  “While our local efforts are more known, SASCU also supports the Co-operative Development Fund (CDF) of Canada through donation and by hosting women credit union managers from developing countries via the Women’s Mentorship Program."
