Ages 0-6

Money Basics

Early years are a great time to introduce your child to basic concepts of money.

While they might not be actively spending, youth ages 0-6 can have their own Saving Account to help set them up for the future and to introduce them to saving. It's also a great time to set up an RESP!

Between 6-9, parents can apply for the British Columbia Training & Education Savings Grant valued at $1,200 towards their future post-secondary education.

Ages 7-12

Setting Goals

  • At age 7, youth can receive a debit card and access to both a Savings and Chequing Account
  • Ability for parents to set up alerts and limits on transfers to teach responsible spending habits

Ages 13-17

Maybe your teenager has landed their first job and wants to save up for a new bike or cell phone.
