SASCU Announces New Executives

SALMON ARM (August 14, 2024) —SASCU Financial Group announces additions to its executive team. Joanna Markin joined August 6 as Vice President, People & Culture. Kelly Bennett joins August 19 as Vice President, Strategy & Partnerships.

We are extremely fortunate to add these two leaders who bring strong strategic insight and track records of positive results from both within and outside the financial services industry.” 

Markin most recently served as human resources consultant to Coastal Community Credit Union. Prior to that she spent 14 years at the City of Nelson as Director, Human Resources, Corporate Safety & Technology. In these roles, she developed and executed consistent processes for recruitment, training, development, and labour relations support. Joanna has her CPHR designation and a graduate certificate in Strategic Human Resources Management from Royal Roads University.

In her role at SASCU, Markin will oversee the development and effectiveness of human resource policies, programs, services, systems and processes for the organization.

Bennett is a familiar face in the Shuswap and to SASCU. Having served as Chief Administrative Officer for the District of Sicamous for the last two years and Chief Financial Officer for nine years before that, Bennett has honed her skills in strategic thinking and partnership building.  Bennett also served as a Director of the SASCU Board from 2021-2023. She holds a Chartered Accountant designation.

Her responsibilities include providing leadership to the development and implementation of SASCU’s strategic plan, along with identifying and cultivating partnerships that will enhance and strengthen the organization’s sustainability.
